TM participates in the ‘Landscapes and Sites’ event of the Cultural Landscapes Alliance

Territorio Mudéjar participates in the event ‘Landscapes and sites. Participate to coexist’, framed in the technical conferences of the Alliance of Cultural Landscapes and Related World Heritage Sites, which began today in A Coruña.

The event is organised by the Tower of Hercules and the Alliance of World Heritage Landscapes and Sites, with the support of the City Council of A Coruña and the Tourism and Congress Consortium, the Ministry of Culture and Sport and the Provincial Council of A Coruña. The event will address the role of society in the conservation of World Heritage landscapes and sites, inviting reflection on the participation of institutions, communities and associations to protect and enhance these places.

Specifically, we will talk about the monument in the landscape: historical and artistic heritage, architectural heritage, heritage of the building trades. As well as intangible heritage and landscape as a builder of the concept of heritage.

We started with the presentation of Moisés Jorge Naranjo, manager of the A Coruña tourism consortium; Alicia Castillo, ICOMOS Spain and UCM; Pablo Jiménez Díaz, UNESCO convention and Ministry of Culture; Antoni Fuster, Consell de Mallorca; and Maral Kekejian, from the office of culture for the Spanish presidency of the Council of Europe 2023.

We have continued with the presentation of María Del Pozo, from the Consortium of Aranjuez World Heritage and secretary general of the Cultural Landscapes and Related Sites Alliance. And the presentations by Miriam Ugarte from the Ministry of Culture, Alicia Castillo, Iría Caamaño (University of Coruña), Xavier Simón (University of Vigo). And a round table moderated by Xosé Allegue (architect of the Consortium Santiago de Compostela World Heritage City) with the speakers: Manuel Rodríguez Lopez (Fundación Ría), Cristina García Fontán (UDC) and Xavier Simón Fernández (CISPAC).

We also took advantage of the day to visit the Tower of Hercules, the oldest lighthouse in the world in use with a fundamental link to the landscape.

TM participates in Cultourfair, the premium cultural tourism fair held in Seville

Territorio Mudéjar participates from 24 to 26 September in Cultourfair, the only international B2B fair of premium cultural tourism in the world. This event takes place in Seville and positions us as an example of management. In fact, we have scheduled 30 meetings with entities that promote heritage destinations and intense networking with international agencies and media.

The event organisers carry out an intense campaign of direct international promotion to its network of contacts, which exceeds 300,000 executives, to attract between 300 and 600 potential buyers, of which only the 50 with the greatest business potential are approved to participate. All of them directors and executives with decision-making power, specialising in: luxury travel, events (sports, music, wine, gourmet, etc.), MICE, city breaks, heritage, gastronomy, folklore, religion, etc…

The event’s programme offers an agenda of pre-established appointments with carefully selected buyers. The conference will be complemented by a high-level networking programme, promoting contact between all participants to foster business alliances that will facilitate the return on investment.

We are thus making progress in our mission to consolidate a unified and collaborative management network for the use of the historical-artistic resources linked to the important Mudejar heritage, understanding them as a driving force for the development of the villages and as an element of identity for the maintenance of the communities that make up our territory.

First measures to implement the Daroca Tourism Sustainability Plan with the advice of TM

Daroca has launched the first measures to implement the Tourism Sustainability Plan with several strategic meetings and the formation of a technical and scientific advisory work team for the management of historical-artistic heritage. This team has been created thanks to an agreement with the association Territorio Mudéjar, which is in charge of leading this team and providing strategic support to the Sustainability Plan, and is made up of a scientific-technical advisor, two emerging professionals as project assistants and a training internship for recent graduates.

The Tourism Sustainability Plan, endowed with two million euros, seeks to improve the local projection with a commitment to tourism as a driver of local economic development, profitability for existing entrepreneurs and to promote job creation. It also aims to boost the existing tourist offer through various actions based on the historical, natural and cultural heritage available in the municipality.

Last Monday 18th, a strategic meeting was held with the participation of Miguel García, mayor of Daroca; Fernando Ara, secretary; Pascual Sánchez, councillor of Culture; Felipe Gonzalo, AEDL Daroca; Carolina Julián, tourism technician of the Daroca region and Victoria Trasobares, director of Territorio Mudéjar, together with part of her project team. Both these meetings and the formation of the working team will allow for the prompt implementation of the two central activities contemplated in the plan.

Territorio Mudéjar celebrates its fifth anniversary

On a day like today in 2018, after many months of work, the association Territorio Mudéjar was set up as a unified and collaborative management network for the use of the historical and artistic resources linked to the important Mudejar heritage and which would serve as a driving force for the development of our villages.

Five years later, we celebrate our anniversary as a solid entity of 47 partners, with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, researchers and students; with international projects, a rich calendar of activities and, above all, an experience in responsible and professional heritage management always in search of local development and impact on localities.

The birthday surprises us at work, as usual. After attending our partners in a personalised way, today we are participating in an event of the Digitour project, which promotes the digitalisation and innovation of SMEs in the tourism sector. In this session, Victoria Trasobares, director of Territorio Mudéjar, and Miguel Bielsa, from Estudio Mique, will participate virtually in a meeting held in Burgas, Bulgaria, where they will give details of the project led by Territorio Mudéjar. Our organisation is coordinating the design of a quality seal to distinguish local establishments that offer appropriate services for scientific tourism linked to heritage and cultural resources. Specifically, the pilot project phase has begun with the redesign of the brand of the Posada del Almudí in Daroca, a hotel opened in a historic building with an interesting rehabilitation, and an establishment in Romania, Pensiunea Septiembrie in the town of Elsenita immersed in the spectacular cultural landscape of the Danube River.

At the same time, we are working with the Andalusian Medinas Network to form a working team that we will soon be telling you about. This network is an instrument for the economic and social development of the territories participating in the tourist experience. It aims to enhance the value of the Andalusian medinas and what their tangible and intangible heritage represents as a contribution of the Andalusian civilisation, particularly in its diversity (ethnic, linguistic and religious), as well as its techniques, sciences and arts.

We are also making progress in personalised management with our partners, studying their needs and signing various special agreements with them to form work teams to provide technical and scientific advice on projects such as the Tourism Sustainability Plan for the destination of Daroca or the special ones for Fuentes de Ebro, Ricla and San Mateo de Gállego to carry out specific activities.

We are about to launch our Mudejar Territory Routes 2023-2024 through the villages.

We continue to participate in international events that position us as an example of management, such as Cultourfair in Seville, one of the most prestigious fairs in cultural tourism related to heritage. In addition, we have already closed some 70 meetings with organisations from all over the world.

Soon we will also inform you that the Territorio Mudéjar team led by Victoria Trasobares has been selected by the Ministry of Culture to carry out the preparatory work for the management plan of the “Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon” as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our network of researchers continues to grow with the new call for Stays and Projects that we are about to resolve and with the great success of our call for artistic residencies.

Our team of students is also growing thanks to the Desafío-Unita programme, which trains new professionals in heritage management.

And we are also growing in membership, which is our essence. With the incorporation of Tarazona, Pozuel de Ariza, Herrera de los Navarros, Ariza, Cariñena and Muel we have reached 47 members plus one collaborating member.

Many thanks to all of you who make it possible for us to continue growing with the compass that the Mudejar heritage is an engine for the development of the villages and an element of identity for the maintenance of the communities that make up our territory.
