Who we are

MUDEJAR TERRITORY

Presentation

TERRITORIO MUDÉJAR was born as an association of municipalities whose objective is to strengthen a unified and collaborative management network for the use of historical and artistic resources linked to the important Mudejar heritage, understanding them as an engine for the development of the villages and as an element of identity for the maintenance of the communities that make up our territory.

The association TERRITORIO MUDÉJAR presents itself as a private management entity with the participation of public administrations based on a project whose work has a direct impact on the territory through the responsible and sustainable management of the Mudejar Cultural Heritage.

TERRITORIO MUDÉJAR is based on an identity approach of sustainable territorial and rural development based on the Aragonese Mudejar Heritage, a monumental resource existing in 85% of the territory of the province of Zaragoza, and supported by numerous samples of industrial, agricultural, ethnographic and traditional heritage that have reached our days adapting to the passage of time and the evolution of the territory and its population.

Incorporated on September 13, 2018 with twenty partner municipalities and one collaborating municipality in the province of Zaragoza, the entity has reached thirty members in a short time and is still open to new incorporations in the different options allowed by its statutes: partners and collaborating entities.

Aims and activities

The general objective of the entity is to promote activities for the study, dissemination and promotion of Mudejar Art in Aragon in all its extension -architecture, movable and immovable property, urban planning, affected territory, population, society and culture-, as well as the promotion of art and heritage management initiatives that serve for its better appreciation, conservation and knowledge.

Its main aims can be summarised as follows:

01

The design of a work philosophy based on a project whose efforts have a direct impact on the territory through the responsible and sustainable management of the Mudejar Cultural Heritage with a transversal and innovative approach.

02

To create awareness of cultural and patrimonial wealth beyond the monumental evidence by adding the possibilities of the agricultural, hydraulic, ethnographic or immaterial heritage of the Mudejar tradition that have come down to our days adapting to the passing of time and the evolution of the territory and its population.

03

To orient our work from the local to the international using the UNESCO World Heritage brand as an umbrella under which we can make visible the richness and diversity of the local territory offering tools for the future: cultural, educational, population and directly-indirectly economic wealth.
