The Mudejar tower of the parish church of La Asunción de Nuestra Señora in La Almunia de Doña Godina belonged to an ancient Romanesque church that was demolished in the 18th century. This is a mixed-type tower built in two phases. In the 14th century, a Mudejar tower was constructed next to the Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. The influence of the Hispano- Muslim minaret style is seen in this square-plan tower in the use of a solid central buttress and staircases covered by a corbel vault of narrowing courses of bricks. The ornamentation on the exterior consists of angled bricks forming zigzagging patterns and protruding crisscrossing brick patterns forming diamond shapes.
In addition, the second section of the tower contains a belfry that opens to the exterior through pointed arches on each side, framed by protruding brick diamond-shaped decorative motifs. In the second half of the 16th century, the tower height was raised and its structure changed, adding an octagonal volume at the top. The original apertures were covered over and ceramic ornamentation was added.
