data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are many remains of prehistoric settlements in the vicinity of the town of Ariza. Ten sites dating from the Late Bronze Age or 1st Iron Age stand out, where pieces of flint and handmade pottery have been found, some with coarse decorations. <\/p><p>In the same place there is a Roman road that linked two of the most important cities in Hispania: Emerita Augusta (today&#8217;s M\u00e9rida) and Caesaraugusta (today&#8217;s Zaragoza), although there is no evidence of Roman residential architecture in Ariza.<\/p><p>But it is undoubtedly the Arab period that marks the course of Ariza. The medina of <em>Hariza<\/em> or <em>Fariza<\/em> (according to some Arabists &#8220;the Possession&#8221;) must have been a major commercial centre.. Nearby nuclei must have been absorbed by it, as it represented a nucleus that was in constant growth, populated by Berber tribes. One of the reasons for this was that Abderram\u00e1n III established a communication route between Medinaceli, Calatayud and Zaragoza.   <\/p><p>The original urban layout of the town, which is based around the castle, dates from this period.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-810fa39 elementor-hidden-desktop class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In the heart of the valley of the river Gr\u00edo, between the mountain ranges of Vicor and of Algair\u00e9n, Tobed has become the gateway to Mudejar not only because of the imposing church of the Virgin, one of the monuments most authentic of the Mudejar in Aragon and designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2001, but rather because the town has made of this unique style a project for the region\u2019s future which encompasses history, art, education, landscape, traditions and people and which has made it possible
