class=\"p1\">Pozuel de Ariza was a strategic point in the border wars between the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon. It is a town on the border between the two Autonomous Communities, even today. In fact, the castle on the border belongs to the Castile and Le\u00f3n region and the Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de la Torre hermitage, the main monument in the town, is in the Aragon region.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The hermitage of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de la Torre, located at the foot of the castle of Mart\u00edn Gonz\u00e1lez (or de la Raya), was built in 1375 as a witness to the Peace of Almaz\u00e1n, signed between Pedro IV the Ceremonious of Aragon and Enrique II of Castile. This put an end to the continuous confrontations between Castile and Aragon, giving rise to a less hostile relationship between the incipient kingdoms. In fact, those baptised in this place enjoyed the dual status of Aragonese and Castilian.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The building we now see is not the one erected in the 14th century, but a later building, probably from the first third of the 16th century (the period from which the chancel is preserved) and which was extended in the mid-17th century.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c5767d2 elementor-hidden-desktop elementor-hidden-tablet elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c5767d2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Pozuel de Ariza was a strategic point in the border wars between the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon.
